GovOps is leading the way to a more efficient California

GovOps is leading the way by integrating efficiencies into state operations—from enhancing workforce capabilities to streamlining hiring processes that were once bogged down by outdated systems. We are embedding AI strategically and removing bureaucratic bottlenecks, s proving that a modern government is an effective government—one that frees up resources to focus on what matters most to Californians.

Below are just some of the ways GovOps is helping lead a smarter more efficient government.

Making it easier to apply for state jobs

The Department of Human Resources’ (CalHR) Pooled Hiring Pilot lets job seekers send one application to multiple departments. Under the regular process, they would have had to apply separately to each department. The pilot helped departments hire people faster than the statewide average.

Faster hiring for better government

California’s new hiring guide is projected to save over 500,000 hours of staff time and will allow state human resources teams to redirect their focus toward improving the hiring process for applicants with faster timelines, deeper candidate engagement, and improved workforce planning. These hiring reforms will help California compete for talent by making state hiring faster, simpler, and more responsive.

Efficient government through innovation and new tech

The Office of Data and Innovation (ODI) is California’s in-house problem-solving team. They are designers, data scientists, and developers who have worked shoulder-to-shoulder with over 30 state agencies to date to rethink and rebuild how services are delivered. Their human-centered service design is powered by data and guided by empathy and real-world experiences. They’re data scientists, developers, and designers for social good — building a government that works for you.

Powering business transformation in state government

The Department of Technology (CDT) is getting discounts on the technology the state needs to get the job done. GovOps worked with CDT to announce a first-of-its-kind partnership to provide Anthropic tools to state agencies. Through the agreement, state agencies may access Anthropic’s AI productivity assistant, Claude, at a 50% discounted price per seat, coupled with free workforce training as well as expert GenAI technical assistance and workflow input from Anthropic developers. Claude is the first AI productivity tool that will be available to all State agencies though the California Department of Technology’s new Statewide Information Technology Shared Services (SITeS) portal. The portal centralizes AI tools in one place with transparent pricing around key business use cases — such as improving operational efficiency, enhancing data security, and optimizing state worker experience.

Getting scholarships to Community College students

CalKIDS is a statewide automatic scholarship program. Over 40,000 community college students were missing out on this money. California built a report to find people who hadn’t claimed their scholarship. Community colleges are now reaching out to these students. Collectively, they’re eligible for $20 million in scholarships. Students can visitCalKIDS.org to confirm eligibility and claim their scholarship.
